Dry Bulk Panel Maritime CEO Forum 2024
This year, we once again sponsored Splash 247’s annual Maritime CEO Form in Monaco, which was held at the iconic Monaco Yacht Club.
During the forum, our CEO and Chairman, John Michael Radziwill, spoke on their panel on the dry bulk market.
The panel was comprised of the following participants:
Moderator:
Tim Huxley, CEO, Mandarin Shipping
Speakers:
Edward Buttery, CEO, Taylor Maritime Investments and Grindrod Shipping
John Michael Radziwill, CEO and Chairman, CTM
Milena Pappas, Commercial Director, Star Bulk and Head, Oceanbulk Maritime
Stamatis Tsantanis, Chairman and CEO of Seanergy Maritime Holdings Corp & Founder, Chairman and CEO of United Maritime Corporation
All the panellists were in good spirits during a week that has fast become the Monaco Shipping Week, with several events taking place around the Maritime CEO Forum.
All the panellists were incredibly upbeat and enjoyed being around friends from across the global shipping community. During the panel, Mr Radziwill was asked by Mr Huxley if there were any concerns to be had with the Chinese economy going into next year (2025) and if there was any optimism in the dry bulk market. To which he responded with:
“I’m not sure if the demand side was really that bad. You had record iron ore imports and coal imports off of a record year in 2023. In the first nine months of this year, there were 1.3 billion tonnes of coal and iron ore imported into China, which is about 84 million tonnes more than it was last year. By the way, you want to be optimistic, and this is pre-stimulus. All these records have been before the Chinese implemented their infrastructural stimulus, so I’m fairly confident on the demand side.”
We can’t thank the team at Asia Shipping Media for putting on this event once again and inviting Mr Radziwill to be a panellist. We look forward to seeing everyone again at their Geneva Dry 2025 event in April and next year’s Maritime CEO Forum in Monaco.
