Technical

“We can’t change the direction of the wind, but we have the vision and the knowledge to adjust our sails to always reach our destination.”
- Jimmy Dean

Here at CTM, we know that the best way to keep our clients’ vessels operating at maximum efficiency is to ensure that our highly trained and motivated Technical Management team is hands on with all the vessels. CTM’s Technical Management team is responsible for ensuring the seaworthiness of all vessels at all times and maintaining them to the highest possible quality standards at minimum operational cost. Since its establishment in 2010, we have specialised in the technical management of dry bulk vessels of all sizes. In 2015, to coincide with our Commercial Department’s move into the tanker market, we are now fully certified and able to handle tanker vessels of all sizes as well.

Our Technical Management team is able to offer a full range of services including the following:

New Building Support

Our team provides all aspects of new building support including contract drafting, specification review, plan approvals and shipbuilding supervision. We have established site offices during the construction process, including in Japan, to oversee the process and ensure the vessel is made to the highest quality specifications.

Conversions & Modifications

Includes major conversion and modification projects, fuel conservation equipment and ballast water treatment system installations as necessary, all within the framework of ongoing regulations. Our team is always keeping abreast with evolving regulations. Ensuring that when they come into force, CTM has notified the owners of the vessels ahead of time, and created a planning schedule to keep all vessels fully compliant at all times. We are always cost aware and mindful of our clients’ needs in order to provide the best result for them.

Sale & Purchase

We conduct all surveys and inspections for the sale and purchase to ensure that our clients are fully up to speed with a vessel’s condition. We keep track of its maintenance / trading history, or will find it out before a transaction occurs. This experienced technical advice is key to ensuring the success of our clients and our continued success.

Safety & Maintenance

Our team of highly skilled superintendents spend an average of 4 months a year on location with our clients’ vessels, covering all aspects of ship maintenance and surveys. Since 2010, our team has completed more than 190 surveys around the world. With CTM’s in-house training centre, we make sure that our employees are fully certified and kept up to date with the latest industry practices and standards. All of our training takes place under the guidance and instruction of such institutions as DNV GL and ABS, ensuring that our team is trained to the highest possible standards, meaning that they can perform as expected when on location.

Compliance & Performance

In 2015 CTM’s Technical Management was recognised by the United States Coast Guard with its highest award – the QUALSHIP 21, “quality shipping for the 21st century”. It is their recognition of and reward to high quality vessels, as well as a testament of our commitment to safety and overall standards of excellence. With this CTM became one of the few shipping companies in the world to be recognised with this certification.

CTM’s performance record (Port State Control deficiencies/detentions & off hire days) is one of the best in the shipping industry to date.

The Company is also certified with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 by both Rina and Lloyds
